Sri. Simon Hembrom

Address : Vill. – Dumkadanga
Panchayat - Sitarampur
Block : Maheshpur
Dist. Pakur
Name of Crop- Niger
Variety-JNC-6

1.  Sri Simon Hembrom is one of the famer where we decide to along with the farmers of village Dumkadanga for the CFLD-Niger. The village is dominated with tribal community who had the consumption of niger oil for making traditional pithaas during festivals and functions. The village has large area of uplands to be included for niger demonstration. Therefore 10 hectares of land was selected for demonstration and amongst that area the area of Sri Simon Hembrom was also included. The people of village Dumkadanga were very much familiar to KVK, Pakur and Sri. Simon who is the active farmer and Krishak Mitra too took keen interest in doing this demonstration.

2.  The existing practice of niger cultivation was just sowing of niger seeds uncared and unmanaged. The technology as bold seeded high yielding variety was provided to them, encouraged them to sow the seeds with seed treatments and applying pest management techniques and using sulphur solutions to enhance oil content in the niger seed, which was not implemented earlier.

3.  Farmers have been provided with the inputs-

  1. Niger Seed var. JNC-6
  2. Phorate 10 G
  3. Carbendazim 12%Mancozeb 63%(Revive-750)
  4. Multineem ( Neem based pesticide)

4.   Phorate 10 G was applied in the field two days before sowing of seed @10Kg/ha. Dosage. Seed was treated with Carbendazim 12%+ Mancozeb 63%(Revive-750)2 gram /Kg of seed. Multiplex ( Neem based pesticide) Was applied @ 3 ml /L water which was given at 60 to 62 days after sowing (20% of flowering stage).

5.  Field day was observed in Asanjola Cluster (Gamhariya and asanjola village)

6.  Result of local check was 5.4 q/ha. Whereas yield obtained in demo was 6.9 q/ha.
B:C Ratio was found 9.64 in local check and 11.5 from demo.

7.  Variety JNC-6 of Niger yielded 27.78% more than local check with very good lusture of seed, expecting good percent of oil content in it. The field condition was very in most of the area, inspite of this the variety yielded competent with local variety.
